Visited Austria a few months ago and hung out with a few medical students - apparently Austria has a shortage of doctors because many of the medical students in Austria go to Germany to practice since it is better pay. This leaves a huge need for urology and OB/GYN specialities in Austria.

Any Austrian medical students to weigh in on this issue?

I have also heard that Austria pays students for clinical electives, is this true?

Yes, this is true. They pay you a stipend for you to do electives there. I believe a few countries in the EU do this.
