I think its crazy that they only offer 5 (FIVE) testing centers! I think they should try to include the rest of the world a little and setup testing centers around the globe. In reality about 80% of the people i meet overseas that are in the Medicine field want to take their USMLE’s. Many cant hardly afford the exam fee yet alone the air fare, hotel ect.
This is ridiculous! Maybe some organization should work on setting up something equivalent to the step 2 and setup more test centers. I just don’t understand why they cannot setup more testing centers.

I have heard about the IFOM which is equivalent to the Step 1 but cannot substitute the step 1. They also have a equivalent exam to the step 2 but once again cannot substitute the USMLE step 2.
IFOM offers many locations where you can take both part 1 and 2. I think for people wanting to take the USMLE they should first take the IFOM and see how they do before spending all that money to fly to one of the locations to take it.

“The IFOM program comprises two separate exams: the Clinical Science Examination (CSE) and the Basic Science Examination (BSE).”
